So have been driving the car for almost 2 weeks now. Feels good to drive. Every day in the morning before i take the car out i have butterflies in my stomach. I feel shit scared. But then once i start driving i do feel confident and feel better.

Today i had to take my folks somewhere else other than my usual route. I was shit scared. Then i realized there is so much difference in driving on the same route everyday and taking a new route all of a sudden. Then i had to park in front of a shop which had a sloping entrance. I parked all right. But then came a car next to me. When i had to reverse i hadnt steadied the wheel and was almost gonna crash onto the car next to ours. It didnt help that my dad was screaming from behind 'Turn the wheel the other way round, now Accelerate, change gear, go front, no no now come back'. By then i had 5 ppl in front of the shop looking at how i was going? One fellow giving me advice on how to reverse 'Half Clutch madam' he said :) But for once i didnt feel frustrated or embarrassed. But looks like dad was cos, he said ok you come out, i will do it. So out i came and then dad took over.

It was a shame i would have loved to do it myself. Maybe another day. But at least now i wont get deterred from driving.

So its December the most festive season of the year. At least it is so when you live abroad.. Just a visit around the city leaves you feeling joyous and happy.. Every year by November the Melbourne CBD is all decked up to celebrate Christmas in style. From Flinders St to Bourke you can see stars and bells hanging across the streets. City Square and Bourke are the most busy this time of the year being the shopping precinct. And its just gives me absolute joy to walk with S or even alone for that matter to see such cheer spread around.
Every year they have Laser projections on iconic buildings which is so much fun for the kids and adults to watch.

The MYER windows are a delight to look at. Myer, is a mid-to-up market Australian department store chain and retails a broad range of products across women's, men's and children's clothing, footwear and accessories; cosmetics and fragrance; home wares; electrical; furniture and bedding; toys; books and stationery; food and confectionery; and travel goods

So every year at Christmas Myer decorates its windows with a new story. The windows are lively with theatrics, puppets and lights that make these windows come alive with magic. People come from very far off and queue up for hours to have a look at these windows. I have heard the work that goes into prepping for these windows is enormous.. The technicians/artists work for a yr and by now they already have an idea what to do for the next Christmas. Its just awesome.. Two videos from this year's display as below.

Some pictures of the decorations and laser projections in the city.

Its been 3 days since i had my D&C.

This pregnancy was a surprise, B and i weren't planning on the second pregnancy. The morning i confirmed my pregnancy with a test i decided to let DD and B know about it too. I made DD wake B up slowly and whispering into his ears that she is gonna be a 'Big Sister'.. B couldn't believe it and he kept asking me if this is for real :) We were really happy. I was 5 weeks along when the blood test confirmed my pregnancy.

I didn't do anything extra to be careful with this pregnancy. I just continued with my daily routine, doing everything at home, spending time with DD and playing badminton every Friday. On the day i turned 10 weeks i had some spotting of bright red blood when i wiped off. Panic set in almost immediately, but it became brown spotting within the next 2days and all that Googling told me spotting in pregnancy was normal. In another 3 days i had an appointment with my GP who also confirmed 90% women spot during pregnancy. The next day i had the ultrasound booked when i was told that the embryo stopped growing at 6 weeks. Some abnormal chromosomes in the embryo and hence my body decided not to grow it anymore was the reason the doc told me for the miscarriage.

The day i was lying on the operating table for the D&C surgery, i started crying profusely just thinking about final this was. With one of the surgeons comforting me and the anesthetist telling me that the general anesthesia was going to be on pretty soon, they put on the oxygen mask, they tried it on twice but i just couldn't breathe and one of the surgeons did call it out as well. But the anesthetist said its mandatory i put it on as i was going to be unconscious and needed the O2 and at that instant all the crappy medical dramas i have ever seen came back to me, what if I didn't wake up from this surgery, what if i have a cardiac arrest due to not being able to breathe, what if i bleed to death, will the surgeons use a defibrillator to bring me back alive. With all those thoughts, i put on the O2 mask again, the anesthetist  told me the anesthesia was up into my system. I was asked to take 3 deep breaths and the last thing that came flashing to my eyes was the image of my DD sleeping in her cot and how i hadn't seen her smiling in the morning. She always wakes up to me hugging her and telling her good morning. I just couldn't imagine how B would feel if i never woke up or how DD will grow up without me and with that thought i was deep asleep. This would be the most near death experience i could ever have.

I was so damn happy just to wake up and see everything around me. Couldn't wait to get out and meet B waiting outside the surgery room to pick me up and go back home.

Sorry lil one..

Dear Baby,

I was told today that you didn't have a heartbeat. I am finishing 10 weeks and was looking forward to hearing your heartbeat for the first time today. Instead they tell me that you stopped growing 4 weeks ago. All these days i was cradling my belly, waiting for a kick. I went all alone to the U/S thinking everything is going to be alright and the spotting that has been happening for the past 2 days is normal as suggested by Google and also by my GP. I so wanted to scream at all those ppl on the web who had commented spotting is normal. I wanted to throttle my GP who comforted me saying 90% of pregnant women spot.

Why was it normal for them and so very bad for me? The embryo had some abnormal chromosomes said the doc. And hence my body decided to not grow it anymore. Why didnt my body tell me something was wrong? I am sorry baby if i did something wrong. I thought i was doing it all right. Managing work and S at home and looking after myself with you inside was a bit hectic but i still didn't think i was doing something wrong.. Have to do a D&C to remove the tissue out. The womb lining that was meant to be your home for the next 6 months, is now gonna be wiped clean as i lie under anesthesia.

I just feel so lifeless. I dono what to do... I feel sad and angry all at the same time. Just today someone congratulated me for having a baby and i didn't know how to respond. It hurts is an understatement.

I just hope i get it all right next time around. We love you no matter what, especially your big sister S.

Love,
Ramya

Am back !!!

Just looking at my archives, the last post was in April 2015. As a kid i always loved writing dairies, felt that i can always read it at a later point when i have absolutely nothing to do. But when your diary gets read by your parents even after it being hid in the most secretive location (under the mattress), in spite of you knowing your dad changes your bed sheets once a month i gave up on it. And years later when i stumbled upon the world of blogging i knew, this is exactly what i needed. And i started blogging fervently. I blogged about my frustrations, my likes and dislikes, my love life .. Then happened marriage, move to a new country and the baby.

So life's been a bit busy trying to juggle work and life. But when i do find time i come back to revisit my old blogs and then decide that i will definitely start writing but then again LIFE HAPPENS :)

Hopefully this time around i will continue to blog at least once a week. So see you around..

Ciao !

This is more like a dear diary note. I wanted to talk to someone more like i wanted to cry to someone. Feeling a bit lonely. Just put down DD for her nightcap. Have had 2 cups of alcohol but still not feeling drunk nor dizzy. Damn you alcohol, failing me when i needed you the most.

Motherhood is the best thing that has happened to me. You think you love your husband/partner, sibling, friends or parents the most and cant love anyone more than that, but the moment you give birth and you hold the little one in your hands it feels like you have never loved anyone more. Its a non-measurable quantity of love and happiness that you feel.

Lately i just feel left out. All my energy is spent on work, then back at home cooking, cleaning and with DD that i don't even have a moment alone with him. At times i would wanna tell him something and she interrupts it every time. She doesn't even let me hold him and cries out if i still do. I cant make her understand that i like him too but who am i kidding she is just 2. Forget PDA there has been no HDA(Home Display of Affection) too for ages now. Its so overwhelming at times that i just wanna throw everything, run to a corner and cry out. I do cry at times when i put her to bed, waiting for to fall asleep.

For guys sex is everything, a way for them to relieve stress, makes them feel wanted, apparently makes them feel better if they are gonna catch a flu(Courtesy of FactsApp on Instagram), whoever did all this research should also know what girls need do they? If they did they should be putting out posters everywhere. She craves for a touch, a cuddle, just a look of reassurance saying i understand, am there for you no matter what during moments mentioned above. When i see couples holding hands, cuddling together or laughing for that matter makes me tear up wishing me some of those. Is it bad that i feel jealous when i see them? Its times like these i wish i was back home in India, at least i would get some time off DD and could get some quality time spent with him.

Its her birthday tomorrow, but for some reason Joan wasn't very thrilled about the fact. Something was not the same this year. She was neither enthusiastic nor happy. Last year she was jumping all week waiting for her birthday, why not this time? Upset about getting a year older? Nah she didn't look a day older than 25 or at least that's what her friends told her all the time. She went on about her day as usual. Went to work, hung out with friends and back home. Her golden retriever Dash came running to her when she stepped in. She decided to take him for a run around the Tan
track. That should make her feel better she thought. With Ellie Goulding's Burn blasting from her Bose headphones, she started on a slow run. By the time she finished she had worked up a good sweat. On her way back she picked up her
favorite fried noodles from the Vietnamese restaurant next to her house. Joan filled Dash's bowl with some dog food
and decided to have a cold shower. She had her dinner, browsing through the TV channels unable to decide on what to watch. She decided to call it a night when she heard her mobile phone ringing out aloud. It was her school mate Ana calling.

'Hey Ana, how are you settling in ?'
'I am still getting used to the damn weather Joan but liking it so far.. Do you wanna start your birthday with some hard
rock partying'
'Nahh, hey how did you know its my birthday tomorrow?'
'Duh, its on Facebook doll'
'Oh OK'
'Come on Joan, lets go at least for for a movie. There should be some new movie you haven't seen yet, pleasee..' she pleaded.
'Ok Ana. Let me get ready. Will see you at the movies in an hr ?'
'Awesome, give me a call once you reach the mall. I am here for a social catch up with the class guys'.
'Ok then. Ciao'.

Joan found Ana and they headed to watch the movie. The movie was good and it was now well past midnight and it was Joan's birthday..

'Happy happy birthday Joan' said Ana..
'Thank you said Joan smiling. They were just walking out from the theater into an almost empty road. They were waiting for the bus to go back home when another of Joan's friend turned up..

'Happy Bday Joan' he said.
'Maxxx, hi. Thanks. Been almost a yr since i saw you.'

Suddenly she could see Zoe, Esther, Raj and Maahi too.
Joan was confused.
'What are all of you doing here? This cant be a coincidence.' she said.
'Happy Bday Joann' they all echoed.
The road seemed brighter now with all the cheerful faces. Definitely someone has switched a light on thought Joan
smiling to herself. She was still reeling with happiness when far away she saw somebody walking towards her. As he neared, Joan's eye welled up. It was Prof. Mujkanovic. Joan was sure everything around her was spinning. It was exactly 4.5yrs since she last saw him. She had been in contact via email for a while but nothing in the last two years. She felt bad that she hadnt been in touch in the recent past. He was the perfect mentor any student could have. He had taught her some of life's most invaluable lessons.

'Happy Bday Joan', he said smiling.
'Thanks Val' she said giving him a hug.
'Look at you, all grown up'.
'Oh Val, stop it. I am so so happy to see you. How have you been? How are Mary and the kids?'
'They are good. Kids growing up.'
'Guys we should all move inside and have a seat. We are making ruckus on the road' said Joan
'Ana, i cant thank you enough. How did you manage to organise this?'
'Joan.. I didnt do anything. There is still one more person waiting for you.'

Then Joan saw him. She saw a silhoutte walking towards her. Even without looking at his face she knew who it was.  It was her ex. She hadnt seen him in months. She thought he had moved continents not wanting to be with her. Her stomach
was doing a flip. A sense of belonging and familiarity returned. Is this what i wanted? she wondered. She could now see Nathaniel clearly. He held a boquet of her favourite red tulips.

'Happy Birthday Joan' he said.
'What are you doing here Nathaniel.'
'Wishing you on your Birthday', he smiled.
'Did you do all this ?'. He nodded.
'But why?. I thought you hated me'.
'I never hated you Joan. We just had too many arguments. At the time I felt it was right for us to get some space. But now I know what a big mistake it was. I am sorry Joan for hurting you and breaking your heart.. Will you accept me back?'
'I don't know what to say'.

She didn't care to look around. It was just her and him now. She knew she was happy seeing him. She now felt excited that it was her birthday. It was all too much for her to take in. Before she could say anything, she saw Nathaniel reach for something in his back pocket and the next moment he was on one knee.

'Joan Miller, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I was a fool to think otherwise. Will you please marry me
and make me yours ?'

After what seemed like eons, 'Yes' she said laughing and crying at the same time.

She hugged him tight taking in his familiar smell and his touch.

I try to squeak open my eyes to have a look at the phone. 6.30 am it show.. Damn you, its Saturday, today is the day you need to be more sleepy and laze on the bed for as long as possible (read before your toddler comes and forcefully opens your eyes)!!  Last night was my night of full sleep or rather the hubby's turn to sleep with DD. So what do i do on my Friday night of fun all alone, locked indoors? I decide to catch up on episodes from Grimm, Once Upon A Time.. By the time am all done the wall clock shows 10:57pm. Ok now thats one thing done... On a normal working day i would have been in my REM cycle 2 by this time, but its Friday so lets Partttaayyyy (read, put your night socks on and get cozy under the blankets)

So here i am all cozy under the thick blanky and wide awake, so i browse FB for a while, then get myself some Mr.Grey time with my Kindle, then do some Sims Freeplay gaming and voila the clock shows 12AM.. That went fast.. I decide its time i sleep cos i am not gonna get to sleep over tomorrow morning with DD coming and screaming into my ears "Wake up its sunny outsideeee".

Even though i slept that late, here i am up at 6.30, hubby dear and DD fast asleep. It seems so quiet that i am actually liking it. Note to self try to do this often. So i get myself a cup of my honey lemon water, grab my Kindle, switch on the Bose to play my latest addiction 'OK Kanmani' by ARR and cozy on the LazyBoy..

Turned out to be a good morning indeed..

When the prospect of moving to Australia first came up after my wedding, like any new bride and a girl who has never traveled outside India i was really happy and excited. We have all seen scenic foreign locations in our movies, breathtaking monuments and not to miss all those branded shops where one can spend all day just looking at clothes :) So from the get go i was really excited to visit Australia. As known initially it was supposed to be a 3-6 month stay and i was determined to make the most of it.

I was being sent off tearfully from the airport by my parents, my best friend and in laws, i was putting on a brave face and all smiles to them but i was sad and upset and also a little scared to travel alone for the next 12 -16 hours which included a transit at Malaysia. And to make matters worse i was time and again advised to be careful of thieves in Malaysian airport where reportedly ppl have lost cameras and laptop bags. So needless to say i sat clutching my bag in the airport, after a 4 hour flight of movie watching from India. I was well past my routine sleep cycle and was falling asleep even as I walked. I finally found the gate, got empty seats near it, put my bag as a headrest (also had an arm around it) and slept for an hour or so. Then got into the 8hr flight to Australia.

It has hence been 3.5yrs in this foreign land. Do i love it? Yes i do.. Do i miss India? Oh yes i do :( Living in a country which is clean, has a system in place for everything, where you don't know who stays in the same floor as you in an apartment complex has its pros and cons. as listed below:

PROS:

  • The roads are so clean. Even if there is an event like a marathon on the main roads, once its completed within the next one hour the roads are spic and span with no trace of an event being conducted there in the first place.
  • The council system in place for kids and the libraries that allow you to take any number of books and DVDs is a blessing !!
  • Public transport system is good and clean, on time with free trams for visitors and free rides throughout on some public occasions.
  • People are early to rise and late to bed :) Helps me in starting to work as i know i am not the only one and wont feel like everyone else gets to sleep.
  • People always give you a smile when you pass by :)
  • If the holidays fall during the weekend you get a substitute the same week.

CONS:

  • There are very few public holidays :-/
  • If you live in an apartment, you don't get to see who stays in your floor and if by chance you see someone on the same floor as you do, all they do is give you a smile and look down to avoid any conversation.
  • You don't form a friends circle with anybody other than your work colleagues. Nothing wrong with that its just that the husbands all talk about work all the time
  • You miss your hometown, you miss your family, mom's food, best friends
  • Unlike USA, cost of living is actually high. Everything here is imported and anything produced locally is also costly. Shopping here is waste of money (but who does that stop from shopping)
The list is endless.. Given a choice i would love to stay here but given a choice i would want to go back to Chennai as well.. Its just the need and situation that lets you take these decisions i suppose. But lets love, live and let live !!!

Crazy Week

Posted by Ramya in , ,

Last week has been a crazy week at work. Since the time i joined i have never been this busy. Had taken up a new task along with my usual set of routine jobs so the new task has sprung up on me all of a sudden last week. So along with my regular work i now needed to do this new task as well. The end result being me on my ass all day long..  With the annual performance cycle coming up i hope they consider all this work that i have put it, considering i sat all day long from 8 - 4 on my seat, starting the day with breakfast, then going for a tea break in a matter of 2 hours, then lunch after another 1 hr and then tea break in the afternoon. By then its 3.30 pm and i start packing for the day. What work did i do is confidential (can be discussed only with higher mgmt). Now you know why i stressing so much on the fact that i had a crazy week last week. Cos I ACTUALLY HAD WORK TO DO ALL DAY !!!

Had a good break on Tuesday night though when we met up DH's colleagues and their famililes for potluck dinner. There were 5 families altogether which included 7 kids in total. DD had so much fun being the littlest of them all. Everybody wanted to carry her, play with her and spend time with her including the adults. We just didnt feel like leaving after the dinner but then all of us had to work the next day and DD was already well past her bedtime.

Weekend was good. Did lotsa cooking on Sunday. Reasons being 1. Had to clear out fridge 2. Was full of energy and wanted to eat something tasty and healthy as we dont eat much during weekdays. DD and DH are doing good. With DD having a runny nose and sore throat over the weekend. We were warned of this at her 18 month vaccination so hoping its just a cold and that she feels better soon.

This week has been good so far. Not so hectic but i have had some work to do. Have a team lunch tomo and then planning to take off on thursday just to relax and get some rest. Havent been sleeping properly at night due to DD's cold and sore throat and me leaving early in the morning when its 8 or 9 deg cold has taken a toll on my sinuses. Been having a heavy head feeling for the past 2 days continously. So hoping to take off on Thursday and get some rest. Hope i dont have any meetings or work on thursday..

Life so far

I started blogging in 2010, for the sole purpose of getting the attention of this one guy in office on whom i had a massive crush. We had been chatting for a while now and though it was going good, i was ready to take it to the next level. So i started posting about my day-to-day stuff and also if i had anything interesting to post. I did give him my blog link but i had no idea if he was following them cos he never acknowledged my posts.. Grrr...
So here i was rambling on and about how my life has been and stuff and still getting no response from Mr. Smarty Pants i decided to do the right thing. Go let him know how i felt about him and to know what his thoughts were. Like in the movies, my friend went "Go get him girl" and i am happy that i did cos now i have GOT him forever for myself :)

Since then life has been really good. I did stop blogging due to family committments and work but occasionally when i decide to visit the blogging world there is one post i visit first before checking out any other post. This post always brings a smile to my face irrespective of how my mood is or if i have had a crappy day.

So coming back to my present life, its autumn here and its getting chilly outside. Lucky me after all my shopping sprees i can now happily announce that i have 3 awesome jackets - one lightweight for the casual windy evenings, one heavy and pretty looking formal jacket and the last one a rainproof jacket. DH (Dear Husband) has never complained about my shopping sprees though it has become a habit out of boredom. But i am officially done for the year with buying new clothes. The only thing pending on my list is a pair long boots ('a girl can never have enough shoes you know') in a shade other than black.

DD(dear daughter) has just finished a bout of cold, after lovingly sharing it will all of us at home. So the long weekend has been depressing but we have all recovered now and hoping to soldier on. Lets see how the coming weeks go..

Till i jot down the next post.. Cya...

Back after a long hiatus. Sitting at work during a training and am super sleepy. Writing this blog to keep myself awake and it seems to be working :)

My last blog was on May 25th 2011. Since then i have found a job with a reputed IT firm, had a baby girl who is now 1.5 and am also back to work.  Time seems to have flown away real quick. But it has been time well spent with loved ones and family. Hope to start being a regular to the blogging world now and post at least one blog a week.

Ciao amigos !!!

A long, sad day...

Posted by Ramya

It’s a beautiful, chilly autumn evening. I stand in my balcony braving the icy cold wind to have a look at the world outside. I see the beautiful trees with bright orange leaves, the autumn season leaving its mark on the numerous and different varieties of trees. There are leaves strewn all across the road, flying along with the wind not knowing its destination.

I stand there for a long time slowly realizing the chillness creeping on to my legs and making me shiver in the cold. The world outside is just like any other day, people hopping in and out of the trams hurrying back to their homes hoping to sip a cup of hot coffee and catch up with their families, cars moving noiselessly and a few people jogging to keep themselves fit and trim.

There is an unknown emptiness inside me, which makes me sad and quiet, not knowing what I should do to make myself cheerful. Day after day it’s just the same for me. I feel lonely at times in this strange land where I just long to see somebody’s face or to make contact. I have never felt this way before maybe because I was always surrounded by friends and family. I do miss them and what wont I do to just spend an evening with my loved ones.

I am still standing in the balcony, tears rolling down my cheeks and I quickly wipe it out so that nobody sees… The only thing to cheer me up is that in a few minutes the person I love the most will be back from work and I would get to spend the rest of my evening with him.

Shopping !!!

Posted by Ramya in

How women love endless shopping hours always amazes me. I have never liked to do it more than an hour at the max and that too I decide to go shopping only when I have something in mind as to what I wanna buy, be it an accessory that I might have to pick up by browsing numerous platform shops in Pondy Bazaar or a good dress in those big stores or malls. But I have gone only when I or a friend (Jannu) wanted to buy something. And it was always fun going with her, the comments we used to pass on other female shoppers, the frantic search for an atm in case our COMBINED cash reserve is all spent ;) , the constant bargaining for reducing the price even if it’s just for 5rs less, me walking away if I don’t get it reduced and Jannu saying I still want it and me convincing her that we will definitely find in nearby shops which we ultimately do. God I miss those days :’(

I have sincerely hated window shopping. My policy is, go into a shop only if you have to buy anything and never to just look at the stuff or compare prices. I used to detest going shopping with my folks when buying electronic goods/utensils/clothes. We used to go to all the big shops, enquire prices, look at all the models and come out empty handed. I couldn’t stand the look the sales person and his colleagues would give something my parents cleverly chose to ignore. “We have to make sure we buy the best” my dad would say :-/ and slowly I stopped accompanying them to shopping of any kind. It’s not them but I can’t stand the constant pestering of the people in the shops asking us what we want, what we are looking at etc. I know they are helping us out and their bosses will be mad if they don’t pounce on a customer the moment he/she enters the shop but please guys I prefer to be left alone!!! If I need anything I would definitely not hesitate to ask you! It only happens in India I guess (not sure of the other countries)

But Melbourne seems to be different. Imagine my surprise when I started loving shopping, the best part WINDOW SHOPPING!!! :) Yes, I just can’t stop myself from going into the shops just to have a look at them in spite of having nothing to buy… And believe me when I tell you, nobody is behind me asking me what I want, maybe an occasional and rare “Can I help you with anything” but that’s it. I have never gone shopping alone as I feel I will be terribly bored with nobody to talk to, but yesterday I took my first ever window shopping trip all by myself and I loved it. Going in and out of shops, taking my time to look at stuff, smiling at people for being courteous, enjoying the summer sun (which gave me the opportunity to wear my new coolers :P ) It was fun, I walked for a long time until the sun dehydrated me, and I decided it was time to get back home but not before I did some tiny shopping for myself ;) Yes I walked into Sportsgirl(http://www.sportsgirl.com.au/), a famous and costly shop here and to my surprise a sale was on. I got myself a cosmetic bag, a new wallet and a transparent nail polish. The best part of it all is – I got all the 3 for just $10 in total. Yippee!!! Attached pics of my mini loot :)

So all you girls who love shopping should definitely be here in Melbourne where there is a sale throughout the year

For almost a week now I've been one seriously confused person. I have been promising myself a job search but I only keep searching and saving them but not applying for any of them... I want to work for sure. Staying at home is driving me crazy… It’s just that I don’t exactly know what kind of work I want to do… I definitely don’t want to get back to the hectic Software job. I don’t want to come back home thinking about on call schedules/how my weekends might get ruined/why that logic doesn’t work/what trouble my lead or team mates will give me. I have been in the software field for 4 years now but the last 1.8months in a stupid L3 support has literally made me hate s/w jobs. And not only that it has made me feel literally dumb enough for any development work or project, I fear am going to screw up the interviews and interviewers are going to think what a waste of time I was L

I have been going through this #1 Australian job site. It has loads to offer but almost every new job I want to try for needs previous experience. Am sure nobody is going to give me a trial work period and then make me permanent. And moreover am worried about what my folks and others might think if I take up some job which isn’t a great match for my degree… Also I don’t want Balaji to feel embarrassed about it… Am just so screwed. For the past few days the idea of an MBA struck me and I was happy thinking I can do an MBA and maybe take up a small job part time but after looking at the fee structure I literally freaked out. I would have to take a loan but with already a loan for the house I really don’t want me and balaji burdened with money matters. So there goes my MBA for a toss…

And just when I was about to apply for the saved jobs I realized that I could do any kinda work I want here but what happens when I go back to Chennai. Definitely we won’t be here for more than a year or so. Then what happens to my career when I go there? Here there are so many options and numerous jobs but back in India it’s just either Computers or Banking or your field of Engg… And after spending almost 3 whole days thinking over again and again I realized that maybe a career in testing wouldn’t be that bad when I go back. So here I am with my final decision (I hope so) – Am gonna get into some not so difficult job and also start attending courses for a career in Testing. And once I have mastered the Art of Testing and its various tools I shall join a job well suited. That way when I go back to Chennai I wouldn’t have difficulty finding a job. So hoping this does me some good…

It’s exactly 1 month since I quit my job and am now officially a HOME MAKER J Am now in Australia. New house, new country and a very different climate. Its good to be in a country where everything is organized and neat. I’m enjoying my stay here but am super duper bored and will soon have to find a job for myself. I wake up late, make my dear hubby some hot tea, then a simple breakfast. After he leaves to office, I take some time for myself, just relaxing on the couch, seeing some videos online, watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S, playing Farmville on FB and having a late breakfast. After that I get busy tidying up the rooms. Then begins my quest to make a sumptuous meal for my dearest husband. He comes home for lunch by 1-1.30. After he leaves I have lunch watching some movie online, then wash vessels and clean up kitchen. Till yesterday I had Twilight - Breaking Dawn to read but I have finished it so now I have to start some serious job searching to start and also my next book which is a Jeffrey Archer ;)

So this is how my life has been since August 9th 2010. I do like it but it kinda gets boring when Balaji isn’t around. Gonna look for a career change as I don’t wanna get back to S/W. I hope I have some good options…

Weekend Movie Watch

Posted by Ramya in

This weekend was real fun but it left me tired and exhausted by Sunday night :( Sudha, Jannu and I had decided to watch good movies and we booked tickets for I Hate Love Storys and Ananthapurathu Veedu.

I Hate Love Storys

The movie was good, colorful and enjoyable. The story revolves around Jay(Imran) and Simran(Sonam Kapoor). Jay is a guy who doesnt believe in love and neither in love stories whereas Simran is a born romantic. She loves the idea of being in love and her aim was to work with one of the best romantic movie directors, Veer. She is already engaged to her childhood sweetheart Raj(Samir Dattani) who she believes is the perfect guy for her. Jay is the assistant of Veer and he detests being a part of his movie but is with him just for the experience. Enter Simran who gets an opportunity to work as an art director with Veer and there is a clash between Jay and Simran like in any romantic flick :) After a few fights, these to patch up and become good friends and slowly Simran starts to fall in love with Jay and moves away from Raj. She assumes Jay too loves her and decides to tell him when she realizes that Jay has treated her just as a friend. She is heartbroken and tries to avoid Jay but still maintains a hi-bye relation as they work under the same director. Now how Jay realizes he too loves Simran and how he woos her back forms the rest of the story. The songs have been shot well and i loved the picturization of Sadka kiya. Sonam looks really beautiful and Imran is cool... Overall a time pass fun flick.

Ananthapurathu Veedu

This movie was one i had gone to lot of expectations as it was by Naga, director of serials like Maruma Desam, Vidathu Karuppu, Chithambara Ragasiyam - all my favourites which were super good thrillers. Jannu and i reached the theater early and were waiting for Sudha. We thought we might miss the beginning but then emerged madam Sudha bang on time :P So we sat down to watch the movie. It started with a magic effect of a big bungalow getting cleaned by itself when servants try to clean it and then happens the hero(Nandha), heroine(Chaya Singh) entry. There is also a little boy Master Aryan who plays Nandha's son. He was really adorable and chubby. The couple visits' the hero's ancestral house for a vacation and from day one super natural forces do household chores which is first visible only to the little boy. Later Chaya Singh sees it but Nandha refuses to believe her. When Nandha sees it for himself the movie breaks for intermission. Later Nandha and Chaya decide to leave the house but are not able to due to few reasons. What are those reasons, how their problems are solved and do the supernatural powers leave the house finally is what happens in the second half. Within first 15mins of the movie, the audience comes to know what the supernatural powers are and why they do things, so there isnt any suspense as such. But this movie doesnt scare you with any loud screams or bangs... The story and background score go hand in hand. I didnt hear the audience booing over any scenes neither did i see anybody moving out of the theater so looks like everybody liked the movie. To me it wasnt a Naga movie that i expected but it still didnt fail to entertain me. You can possibly watch it once...
